An Ode To One Kings Lane… please stop tempting me with all of your awesome furniture, home stuff, nick-nacks and more. Seriously, this could and will inevitably become, if it hasn’t already a very expensive habit. I’ve been well behaved with the general ads served to me across all the websites I visit and like most of us all I’ve learned to tune them out and when I visit a website that has 20 pop-ups before I can even read a piece of content, I’ve trained myself to simply “x” out and close the window. Internet advertising for the most part, maybe sort of works on me, at least on some level I am sure that my subconscious mind is absorbing whatever brand image is hovering on whatever side of the page, but for the most part it doesn’t drive me to actually buy anything. But One Kings Lane, you devil, oh, yes, for some reason you do such a good job of serving me up furniture or carpets that I’ve been eyeballing, that I really love and that would look really good in the living room or guest bedroom, or maybe in the garage as I wait for a place to put whatever it is. Evil, because I will continue to click on the window and browse and I will eventually buy, but it might take a little prodding, tossing down $2,000 a pop for a new Oushak carpet is a very expensive impulse buy… but it will happen, and for that I ask that maybe you just stop and go away. But that’s not going to happen is it. We love you too much and can’t look away.
