Trump, Trump, Trump, we have been hearing nothing but anything about only Trump since he officially declared his candidacy for the Republican nomination for President. As so many have pointed out it’s hard to ignore him no matter how much we try, it is quite literally the celebrity train wreck we all love to watch (without the booze, drugs and lamborghini’s), which in turn fuels the media to give him more coverage. There are however a few voices of reason and it is those we will try to give our added voice to. Frida Ghitis wrote an excellent piece for CNN opinions the other day which we thought was fantastic, in summary, what does the rest of the world think as they watch this all unfold and what is the image of America that Trump provides… it’s not pretty.
“The American electoral circus has taken the stage and people around the world are watching in disbelief. To say they are not impressed would be an understatement. A Colombian columnist called Donald Trump a “lab rat,” for testing the U.S. tolerance of toxic political debate. In India, a commentator writes dismissively that the “self-declared ‘greatest’ democracy is descending into a farce.””
“A Dutch cartoonist captured theTrump formula in one drawing, a mock advertisement for “Trump Hair Spray” featuring warning symbols indicating the contents are poisonous and explosive.”
These are just a few of the choice pickings from Frida, and we would strongly suggest that everyone read the rest and full text – What does Trump mean for U.S. image?
